Yesterday the New York City Council passed legislation that creates a demonstration pilot to convert basements and cellars in East New York into safe, healthy, and affordable apartments. For over a decade, Pratt Center has been advocating alongside our community-based partners for a pathway to legal basement conversions, and we are very excited to see our hard work come to fruition.

Pratt Center kicked off the seventh year of the Taconic Fellowship program on Wednesday, February 6 with a reception hosted by Pratt Institute President Frances Bronet. Over the span of six years, Pratt Center has awarded over $360,000 in funding to support nearly 40 community development projects stewarded by teams of students, faculty and staff from Pratt Institute. Close to 140 Taconic Fellows have partnered with community organizations in at least 32 communities in NYC.

Mariah joins Made In NYC as Manager of Membership Development and Engagement
 

As a key part of the Made In NYC team, Mariah will manage recruitment efforts and member relationships with NYC manufacturers. She will also help ramp up strategic marketing and consumer-facing engagement for MINYC.

Mariah was most recently at NBC Universal, where she managed communications and relationships with 200+ affiliate stations across the U.S. as an Associate Producer.
