Dear <<First Name>>,
Since 2007 when Chris and Andrea launched the Mullineux brand, their ambition to bottle wines that are a true expression of the Swartland has led them to earn no less than 18 five-star wine ratings in the Platter’s South African wine guide and in 2014, 2016 and 2019 they were named the guide’s “Winery of the Year”. True to the Swartland, their focus is on Syrah and Chenin Blanc from the Granite, Schist, Quartz and Iron-rich soils of the region. Their handcrafted Mullineux range of wines is produced on their Roundstone farm in the Swartland. In addition to their legendary Syrah, Chenin Blanc-based white blend and their mouth-watering rich Straw Wine, they also produce a unique range of spectacular single terroir Syrah and Chenin Blanc expressions.
Fast forward 10 years and, together with their partner Analjit Singh, Chris and Andrea have launched Leeu Passant Franschhoek - an opportunity to work with special old vineyards outside of the Swartland and to celebrate the rich history of South African wines. Using the Cape’s wine heritage dating back to the 17th century as inspiration, the decision was made to deconstruct the venerable Cape wines, retain their best component parts and then reconstruct them in a modern-minimalist way, all the while respecting history and tradition. The current focus is on Chardonnay and Cabernet/Cinsault blends.
