February 14, 2019

This Sunday, February 17, at 10:30 am, "A Spirituality of Showing Up" Rev. Frank Clarkson preaching
On this Sunday when Rev. Frank returns after a month of being away, he will invite us to reflect on the power and grace and gift that comes from simply paying attention. Might being attentive be the life-changing spiritual practice we have been looking for? Might this be an antidote to our hurried and harried lives, and a way to help create the world we dream of? Please come join us for worship this Sunday!

Silent Meditation Retreat Coming Soon!
A Silent Meditation Retreat will be held at UUCH on Saturday, February 23, from 9:30am-3:30pm. In the Insight Meditation tradition, participants will experience a day of silence which includes simple spoken instructions, sitting and walking meditation sessions, sharing a simple vegetarian meal, and an opportunity to share their experience of the day. Group size will be limited to 15. This retreat is freely offered and in the spirit of Dana (generosity), donations toward the purchase of lunch and heating of the church will be gratefully accepted. Organized by Bets Robertson and Linda Sanchez. Please email Linda here for more information or to register.

Stewardship
The Stewardship campaign will be kicking off soon and we need your help. Merriam-Webster defines stewardship as “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care.” All of us are entrusted with the care of our church and church family. Past members gave for many reasons including: building the church, creating new programs and supporting religious education. We invite you to write a sentence or two answering the question "Why do you give?" Please post your answers on the UU Church of Haverhill Facebook page or send to Taffy Jervey here.

Auction Preparation
It's that exciting time of year again when the annual UUCH Auction is just around the corner.  Besides being a wonderful potluck and community time, there are always great donations.  It's time to start thinking of ways you can share yourself with the church by contributing to The Auction.  What ways can you make new connections?  What do you do well (big or small)?  What do you like to create?  What trinkets can you offer?  Do you know a business owner who would like to donate a gift certificate?  I can't wait to see all the offerings!  And I hope to see you at The Auction on March 23rd at 6:00 pm!

Calvary Baptist Black History Month Celebration
Our friends at Calvary Baptist are having a Black History Month Celebration at their church on Saturday, February 23rd. They have invited us all to attend. The celebration begins at 3:30 pm.

They are located across Travers Street on Kenoza Avenue before Mediterranean Pizza and Subs. Please leave the spaces closest to our building for visitors and members who aren’t comfortable walking.

Small Group Ministry Spring Edition
We will be offering Small Group Ministry (SGM) again this spring. SGM is a vital part of faith formation and community building in our congregation. This small group of 6-8 people, led by 2 facilitators, offers an intentional way to connect with others and deepen your own faith. The groups will meet here at church every other week for 90 minutes each, beginning in early March and wrapping up in mid-May. Please sign up on the clipboard in the Murray Room or follow this link.
