Eco-Schools USA is turning 10 years old!
It is exactly 10 years ago that National Wildlife Federation (NWF) became the host of the Eco-Schools USA programme. Starting with just one school in 2009, the programme now reaches over 5,300 schools and 3 million students. Students are learning science, acquire technology-related skills and engage in community problem-solving.
"Participating in Eco-Schools results in so much more than cost savings, conservation of resources, or greening the school grounds. The Eco-Schools programme transforms the student experience and strengthens the school community in meaningful, long-lasting ways that extend far beyond the classroom walls", said Kim Martinez, National Operator of Eco-Schools USA. The group of students experimented with a prototype of a wireless mobile charger in technology class and proved, through a feasibility study, that a 20-minute driving in the solar road can charge the car’s battery by 30% using a special wireless conduit and circuitry that can be installed in the electric car.
