On behalf of the PHA Wellington branch, I would like to welcome everyone back to another exciting year ahead and what an amazing summer we have been experiencing.  Remember to Slip, Slop, Slap!  

This is going to be an exciting year for the PHA with some amazing events that will be held throughout the year, 2019.  This includes the Post- Budget Breakfast, Te Rerenga Tiriti journey, CCDHB elections, AGM and numerous advocacy opportunities at a local, regional and national level. World-class biomedical research hub in Wellington.
Discovering ground-breaking treatments and findings about diseases such as cancer and asthma will be made easier thanks to a $7.1 million pledge towards building a world-class biomedical research hub in Wellington.

That's the promise made by the director of the Malaghan Institute Professor Graham Le Gros who was "over the moon" with the generosity of the Hugh Green Foundation's multi-million dollar investment.

New Zealand’s public healthcare crisis worsens : ByTom Peters, Socialist Equality Group.

New Zealand’s Labour Party-led coalition government took office in October 2017 promising to address the severe crisis caused by more than a decade of cuts to the public health system. The previous National Party government underfunded healthcare by billions of dollars as part of austerity measures demanded by the corporate elite to force the burden of the 2008 financial crisis on working people.

Time to overhaul NZ’s pesticide rules.
 

Victoria University of Wellington environmental law expert CJ Iorns calls for a radical overhaul of New Zealand’s pesticide approval process.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has invited public submissions on some pesticides for potential reassessment of their approvals.
