The Next Stop in our Time & Place Journey – Lübeck, Germany.
Membra Jesu Nostri, considered by many to be the first Lutheran oratorio, is Dieterich Buxtehude’s otherworldly choral reflection on the crucified Christ. Hear the music that so impressed J.S. Bach that he traveled 250 miles (on foot!) to Lübeck to hear his fellow composer’s organ and choral music.
CONCORA is joined by organist Christopher Houlihan, Distinguished Chair of Chapel Music at Trinity College, who will be interspersing Buxtehude’s organ pieces – largely chorale preludes – between the seven sections of Membra Jesu Nostri.
