The iconic Route 66 roadtrip runs East to West from Chicago to Los Angeles, covering 2451 miles, passing through eight states, three time zones and some totally magnificent scenery. It was established on 11th November 1926 as one of the original highways of the US.
It's pretty standard to allow at least two weeks to enable you to visit the most popular sites and major cities along the route, but it's a good idea to allow longer if you have more time on your hands, to see places that tickle your fancy and drive less hours a day.
However one of the preferred and best ways to cover Route 66 is on an escorted tour. For you the traveller, this means you'll have a detailed itinerary and know beforehand your stops, the sights you'll see and the accommodation you'll stopover at, making for better planning!

Shrove Tuesday is the day preceeding Ash Wednesday, before Lent starts. Shrove Tuesday is also known around the world as 'Mardi Gras', meaning 'Fat Tuesday' in French! Many countries celebrate Mardi Gras, including Sydney in Australia, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and Venice in Italy.
The term Pancake Day is an old English tradition where people would use up ingredients in the house before fasting during lent. Eggs and milk were combined with flour in the frying pan to make pan-cakes!
