Artist and composer Raven Chacon joined us at Crow's Shadow last week, as our first Artist-in-Residence (AiR) of 2019. Chacon is here as a collaborative AiR with the Oregon East Symphony, who has commissioned a new musical composition of his to premiere at their Winter Chamber Music Festival. During this residency Chacon will be working on his chamber music work, as well as developing a print based on his unique notations.
The results of his printmaking will be on display at the Vert Auditorium on February 16th during the premiere of a new chamber orchestral work commissioned by OES, and then again the following day at Crow’s Shadow February 17th, for a matinee reprisal of his new composition along with drummers from the local community.
Vanessa Renwick's Self-portrait as she-wolf print was completed just in time for its debut at the Portland Fine Print Fair at the end of January. It is available online here or you can stop by the Crow's Shadow gallery & studio to see it in person.

THANKS FOR THE EXCELLENT PRINT FAIR PORTLAND!
We had a great time at the 2019 Portland Fine Print Fair (PFPF) hosted by the Portland Art Museum. The booth walls featured works by our most recent Artists-in-Residence: Marwin Begaye, Avantika Bawa, Ka'ila Farrell-Smith, Vanessa Renwick, and a special sneak peek of a new project with James Lavadour (watch for an image in next month's newsletter!). Thanks to all of you who stopped by to say hello, it was a wonderful, busy weekend full of art. Extra thank-yous to Judith Baumann and Jaime Durham, who did a beautiful job setting up the booth this year; and another to Board Treasurer, Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson for helping sell Lavadour raffle tickets.
Come visit us between 9:00-5:00 Monday - Friday. Studio pup Dusty will greet you (photo by Karl Davis).
