Mending Masculinity: Spoken Word Tour

Mending Masculinity is a collaborative spoken word tour featuring Kavi Ade & Vision. The duo's separate lenses (as a trans queer person and as a cis hetero person) cultivate a conversation encompassing all forms of masculinity, the performance of gender, and the inherent toxicity of gendered binaries in a patriarchal world. ​Their art aims to task men and masculine-of-center folks of all journeys to unpack, heal, and create a path to whole masculinities.

Tatyana Fazlalizadeh: Oklahoma is Black Opening Reception

Opening of Tatyana Fazlalizadeh: Oklahoma is Black, an exhibition that references NYC-based artist Fazlalizadeh’s America is Black, a series of images that “reflect the voices of marginalized groups who are challenging the acceptance of bigotry and white supremacy.” For the first major exhibition in her home state, Fazlalizadeh interviewed black residents of OKC's Northeast side about their experiences with oppression, especially racism and sexism. From those interviews, she created portraits and combined them with quotes to “see the faces and voices of a people navigating deep-rooted racist environments while also creating beauty and culture in their daily lives.”

An Evening with Tatyana Fazlalizadeh

Exploring Equity: Community Policing & School-to-Prison Pipeline

The school-to-prison pipeline is a disturbing national trend wherein children are funneled out of schools and into the juvenile and criminal justice systems. Many of these children would benefit from additional educational and counseling services. Instead, they are isolated, punished, and pushed out. We will explore how community policing might interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline.

The Start: An Anti-Racism Intensive Workshop

Writer and activist Rachel Cargle brings her anti-racism work offline and into intimate and intensive conversation exploring race, white supremacy, feminism and the work we must all do to be a part of the solution. This two-hour intensive will include a meaningful conversation with Rachel utilizing a curated curriculum she has developed just for this event. The workshop will include critical dialogue, small group discussions, worksheets, visuals, take-home materials for continued study and implementation.
