  • Time for design - what role for neighbourhood planning? Led by Angela Koch, Convener, Neighbourhood Planners.London
  • Winning support - what will help neighbourhood planning to be more popular?
  • Neighbourhood planning stories
The event is free.  Tea and coffee are provided and we have been promised home made cake!  The Conference is run by volunteers and we will be asking for a £10 donation.

Our thanks to Trust for London for supporting this event and all the volunteers who are contributing to it.

London Plan changes strengthen neighbourhood planning - The London Plan has been changed to recognise the role of neighbourhood planning as part of a three-tier development plan in London. This follows our representations and we have re-enforced the issue at the Examination in Public.
Borough support for neighbourhood planning - We are following up our research reports showing how  Borough's Statements of Community Involvement and Local Plans are too rarely recognising the role of neighbourhood plans. This includes meeting the RTPI, writing to local authority Monitoring Officers and objecting to the latest draft Local Plans for Islington, Westminster and City of London which fall short.
"Neighbourhood Planning in Practice" - The neighbourhood planning book has arrived, published by the research team at the University of Reading which has produced a "supportive text for those considering or already embarked upon a neighbourhood plan." The book steers the reader through the stages involved with examples and issues encountered by others, as well as highlighting some useful tips about relationships involved and how to plan the plan. Get details here and use the code PLANNING25 in order to get a 25% discount off the RRP until the  end of February
A new Basic Condition - Following a number of legal judgements confirming screening for environmental impacts cannot assume mitigation measures are in place a new Basic Condition has been introduced requiring that "the making of the neighbourhood development plan does not breach the requirements of Chapter 8 of Part 6 of the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017". The change is introduced by a new Regulation
New guide on the environment - The Environment Agency, Forestry Commission, Natural England & Historic England have published a 55 page guide Neighbourhood planning for the environment. As the authors are statutory consultees the guide is well worth looking at.
