A Message from Pastor Kandace

February 14, 2019
Dear Friends,

The generosity of this church amazes me - this week I had the absolute joy of handing over to a member of our church a pile of gift cards for groceries and gas and other expenses that will help this individual through a difficult time.  YOU opened your hearts and hands in such a beautiful way - YOU made a difference.  And this is the pattern of our church - to be a community turned outward to others - through organized ministries such as Manna on Meridian and Echo, the Florida United Methodist Children's Home and hurricane relief - and also through individual acts of compassion and kindness such as this.  In this week of celebrating romantic love YOU demonstrated a deeper love - the love of God towards others.  My own heart is full!

Many have asked how you might help out Laurie Batten in these days and weeks after her surgery.  I am happy to say that the surgery went well, and we have organized a meal delivery for Laurie and her family.  You can follow this link to sign up to prepare a meal for Laurie as she recovers.  Until Laurie is ready for visitors, you are asked to bring meals to the church, and they will be picked up each day.  Thank you!

I am so much enjoying our current sermon series on the theology of John Wesley and I am encouraged by the robust and generous approach that John Wesley took in his understanding of faith.  This week we take up the connection between WORD and TABLE, and as you prepare for worship I encourage you to recall the life transforming moments you have experienced around the table.

Thank you for what you do, and for who you are -

Blessings,
Kandace

ATTENTION - PLEASE NOTE

Due to the water intrusion issue in the Chapel, the courtyard outside the church office will have to be excavated. You will not be able to access the church through the front door.  The only entrance to use for church on Sunday will be the Choir Room and the Tharpe Street doors.  During the week if you need to get to the office, you will have to use the Choir Room door.  That door is not always open during the weekday, so you may have to call the office and get one of the staff to let you in.  This will only be for a few weeks, so please be patient while construction is going on.

WHAT'S NEW AT SAINT PAUL'S

A Disciple’s Path is an engaging approach to discipleship from a distinctly Wesleyan perspective. Whether used as an introduction for new members or a renewal course for existing members, the program guides individuals to take the next step in discipleship and become dynamic, engaged followers of Jesus Christ.

A Disciple’s Path will be offered at Saint Paul’s UMC with an evening class at 6:15 p.m. in Room 301 and a morning class at 9:00 a.m. in Room 301. Childcare will be available so please RSVP when reserving your materials. Please call the church office to reserve your materials. Cost of materials is $12.00.
