Good afternoon.  I hope you all are well.  Your report this week includes the monthly ridership report from Maury Express, the weekly calendar and other updates and announcements.

City offices will be closed 
Monday, February 18, 2019 in honor of Presidents Day. Offices will reopen Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 8:00 a.m.



Daylight savings time will begin at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 10, 2019. Don't forget to turn your clocks forward!
RARO Spring Sports Registration

RARO will continue to offer online registration available on the RARO website, www.rarorec.org or via hard copy. Hard copies will be available at the RARO office (300A White Street, Lexington, VA 24450) and at all local elementary and middle schools. Registration forms can be downloaded from the RARO website as well. All completed hard copy registration forms should be returned to the RARO office.

Registration will be broken down into three separate two week periods. Please register in a timely fashion. As you know,  an additional  fee will be charged for all late registrations! 

February 11 - 22, 2019: Registration for RARO Babe Ruth Sanctioned Baseball. Minor League, ages 9-10  and Cal Ripken League, ages 11-12. Age determinant April 30, 2019. ** Boys and girls who will turn 9 during the time frame of April 30, 2019 - September 29, 2019  are eligible to play Minor League Baseball, but must complete hard copy registration. Please contact Darrell Plogger to get this upward move approved.

February 25 - March 8, 2019:  Registration for RARO Girls Softball, Junior League ages 7-10  and Senior League, ages 11-13.  Beginning Volleyball, boys and girls ages 8-13. River Runners, boys and girls ages 6-10. Age determinant is September 30, 2019.

March 11 - 22, 2019:  Registration for RARO Tee-Ball, boys and girls ages 5-6. Rookie League Baseball, ages 7-8.  Age determinant is September 30, 2019.

Again, thanks for registering at the appropriate time. Online registration opens at 8:00 a.m. on the first day of registration and closes at 5:00 p.m. on the final registration day.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

 
Do you have hazardous waste that needs to be disposed of?
Bring it out to Maury River Middle School parking lot on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. 

MATERIALS ACCEPTED: 
Pesticides
Herbicides
Fuels
Used oil
Antifreeze
Mercury (household products only)
Solvents
Oil-based paints
Batteries ONLY with both ends taped
Cell phones, smartphones and tablets

*NO propane tanks or tires of any size will be accepted.
*NO light bulbs or light tubes. These can be dropped off at the landfill.
Spring Shred Day Event


 
Lexington and Rockbridge County residents are invited to bring their confidential documents to be safely destructed at the Spring Shred-It Event! 

The event will take place at Maury River Middle School on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Shred-It events promote recycling and help make our community a safer place to live by raising awareness of identity theft. All materials will be collected and then shredded off-site at one of Shred-It's secure, monitored facilities.

Note that there is a limit of 5 boxes of paper per resident.
