On February 11, National League of Cities CEO Clarence Anthony and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter teamed up at The Corps Network 2019 National Conference to talk about the critical importance of connecting young people to nature. They highlighted Philadelphia’s launch of a green schoolyards initiative that will bring 75% of Philadelphians within a “10 Minute Walk” of a quality greenspace. They also talked about the success of city-conservation corps partnerships in engaging youth in outdoor service projects that help cities accomplish conservation, recreation, green infrastructure, climate resilience and workforce development goals.
