Living With a Disability in America

  • Equity–  The state, quality or ideal of being just, impartial and fair. To be achieved and sustained, equity needs to be thought of as a structural and systemic concept.  Source
  • Preferred Gender Pronoun (PGP)– Pronoun that a person chooses to use for themself. For example: If Xena’s preferred pronouns are she, her, and hers, you could say “Xena ate her food because she was hungry.” Source
  • Race– A socially constructed concept based on certain hereditary features, e.g., skin color, bone structure, hair texture, etc., that distinguish one human population from another. Source
