Linda Loveland Reid's speaking at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts

Linda Loveland Reid was our speaker at the February General Meeting today,  in the Berger Center.  She gave a very interesting lecture about the Anderson Collection at the Stanford Museum.

She has a series of three lectures at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts and this email is to let you know when they are, as several members asked about this.


Linda Loveland Reid…


is the author of two novels, Touch of Magenta and Something in Stone. She also writes for Sonoma Discoveries, a West County art and cultural magazine. Linda is past president of Redwood Writers with 350 local members. Additionally, she is a figurative oil painter and director of theater in Sonoma and Marin Counties. Linda holds two B.A. degrees from SSU in History and Art History. She currently teaches art history for SSU and Dominican Universities in the Osher Lifelong Learning program. Most recently, Linda has formed the OLLI Art Club with over 150 members, providing lectures and field trips to art events.

Oil Painting Workshop, Huihan Liu


3-Day Painting Workshop by Huihan Liu
 

Dates: May 2,3,4th 2019
Location:  Art Room, Central Activities Center
Class Schedule: 9:30-4:30 PM, One Hour Lunch Break
Oil Painting / For All Levels


Objective:
This intensive 3-day workshop is designed for painters who already have painting experience but would like to continue improving their craftsmanship and visual concept. The workshop will focus on painting from a model in different settings. There will be deep discussion regarding visual elements such as design, placement of composition, and focal point. The instructor will be doing a painting demonstration each morning and a one-hour slide show presentation. Individual attention will be given to each student throughout the workshop.  
  • Huihan has been teaching many invitational painting workshops around the country such as: Fechin Painting Workshop in Taos, NM; Scottsdale Artists’ School in Scottsdale, AZ; Fredericksburg Artists School in Fredericksburg, TX; Pixar Studio in Emeryville, CA; California Art Club in Pasadena, just to name a few. He was an award juror for Oil Painters of America National Show in 2015, and several times in different venues.  
  • Huihan served in the Academy of Art University in SF from 1993-2011, as an instructor and graduate school advisor.
  • Huihan is a Master Signature Member of Oil Painters of America. A Signature Member of California Art Club. A Master Signature Member of America Impression Society.

Lian Zhen Workshop


June 6, 7, 8, 2019
Location:  Art Room, Central Activities Center
Schedule: 9:30-4:00 each day
Workshop Fee: $235.00
 
Class description:
 
Lian teaches basic techniques such as composition and coloring, and his unique methods include "Color Pouring and Blending" and "Paint Around".  Only three primary colors will be used for painting.  There are 4-6 short demos each day with student practice in between, so that they can absorb and assimilate the lessons. In critiques Lian helps students by touching up their paintings.  

By the end of the workshop students will be able to finish a couple of paintings, or learn enough techniques to complete them later.
