Message from the HABA Board:

We are off to a great start this year! The Board hit the ground running. I am excited to work with the new HABA Board members and look forward to another term, serving as your Board Vice President. As we plan out our activities for the rest of the year please consider volunteering to assist, or more importantly, just show up to support what HABA has to offer! The polar vortex has hit us hard this month and I am hopeful that with the impending thaw we will all be ready to live out loud the mission of HABA. Our goal is to continue to foster service and participation from all its members through civil engagement, socials and learning opportunities. We hope to see you all soon.

LSAT Scholarship - apply by March 15, 2019!

HABA is accepting applications for its annual scholarship to fund a Law School Admission Test (LSAT) preparation course. Strong LSAT scores can lead to law school scholarships, highly competitive law school applications, and a greater likelihood of acceptance into law school. Additionally, HABA is committed to diversifying the legal field by aiding law school hopefuls at the earliest stages of their legal career. This scholarship is intended to remove the financial barrier of a LSAT preparation course for a potential law student. The scholarship will be a direct payment from HABA to a LSAT preparation course provider on behalf of the scholarship recipient (maximum of $1,400.00). The LSAT preparation course must be completed by December 31, 2019.

Events in the Legal Community

Ramsey County's Public Interest Multicultural Law Student Networking Reception

On Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. the Ramsey County Attorneys Office (RCAO) will host its first Ramsey County’s Public Interest Multicultural Law Student Networking Reception in partnership with the Ramsey County Public Defender’s Office, the Second Judicial District Court and the Saint Paul City Attorney’s Office. This event is a networking opportunity for law students to learn more about law clerk opportunities in Ramsey County, and it will be held at the Landmark Center in Room 317. Representatives from the above organizations will be in attendance to discuss law clerk opportunities in their respective organizations. Additional details are included in the attached flyer.

Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association: 2019 Annual Law Student Reception - Rescheduled

The Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association cordially invites you to the 2019 Annual Law Student Reception on Monday, February 25, 2019. The event will take place at the offices of Dorsey & Whitney LLP from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This reception provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the FBA and its activities.
