All You Need to Know About BarnRaisers
You're Awesome; Here's Why

We just received a report from the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide (formerly Chaucie's Place) telling us that we helped them educate more children and adults in 2018 than ever before. They reached 70,000 people across seven central Indiana counties and 17,000 (nearly 25%) of them were the result of the $20,000 you helped us raise at our Bingo Night last March.

In the year ahead, the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse & Suicide is expanding to take its unwavering mission to end youth abuse and suicide across the state. Their work is more important than ever. So, if you're interested in learning more about how you can help them going forward, go to this link.

They're good people and they asked us to thank you for giving hope and healing to Indiana children. Nice work all you BarnRaisers.

Come Play Bingo With Us

Come join us for our 3rd Annual Bingo Night. Tickets are $50 for beer, wine, taco bar, snacks and six games of bingo. We sold out in 2018 and this year promises to be another great time.

Proceeds will support two groups: 1) The Joseph Maley Foundation serves children of all abilities through five programs including disability and mental health awareness, leadership and service-learning opportunities, and adaptive and inclusive athletics.
2) The Indy Dream Center - a partnership of churches, hospitals, and civic organizations - transforms our community by working to meet people where they are and to bring them hope and a way off the streets.

Spotlight on Scott Rigney

Scott Rigney has a big heart for helping others. He’s been BarnRaisers’ Board Chair since its founding in 2012 and he’s worked with board members new and old to drive a singular mission – find ways to help children both locally and abroad.

Scott takes pride in BarnRaisers being an all-volunteer group with no overhead for employees or office space. He says that can make things challenging at times, but people always step up and he’s always inspired by those who are willing to take time out of their very busy schedules to help folks they will likely never meet.

“BarnRaisers is a different kind of charity,” said Scott. “We’ve been able to raise and distribute more than $500,000 so far. We don’t focus on one single group or cause, but we do support charities – from start-ups to growing organizations – who have a passion for helping children locally and globally.”

Scott and his wife Deb of 20+ years have two kids (Cooper and Piper). Scott works for CarDon and Associates – a Bloomington based senior care company – and his responsibilities include real estate development, facilities management, supply chain and technology. Scott loves to travel, trek, golf, and be with family and friends.

“Deb and I were so grateful and moved after we completed our two overseas adoptions,” said Scott. “We felt compelled to do something for all the orphaned children that were left behind. We worked closely with the Kids First Foundation for several years. Then, we wanted to expand the scope to help local charities focused on assisting kids at risk. BarnRaisers was formed shortly thereafter.

“I just really appreciate all the people that have made BarnRaisers a success. From co-founder Pat Chittenden, my wife Deb, all our sponsors, donors, attendees at events, and of course our outstanding board. I feel really fortunate to been associated with these people.”

Save The Date for GOLF:
Our Annual Golf Outing is set for Monday, September 16th at the Sagamore Club in Noblesville, Ind. BIG thanks to our title sponsors at IMI for their generous support.

This outing sells out early, so be on the lookout for registration info in the weeks ahead. If you're interested in sponsoring, we have several great opportunities.

Through last year's outing, you BarnRaisers helped raise $25k for the purchase and installation of a playground at the Caye Caulker RC School in Belize. And another $25k to help Hear Indiana support children with hearing loss. That's inspired stuff.

Please email Ken McKnight at kmcknigh@iupui.edu for more info on sponsorship.
