We are delighted to report that checkouts on our Libby app for eBooks and eAudio reached around 9,000 in January 2019! This is an increase of roughly 2,500 issues since this time last year. About a quarter of these issues are for children and young people which is really encouraging.
And, as if Libby wasn't enough, we also have the Borrowbox app to give you even more listening and reading choices online.

It's the season for book prizes - these include the Costa Book Awards, the Richard and Judy Winter Reads and the Waterstones Childrens prizes. Here are some titles which made it to the Costa shortlist, with a special mention to Bart van Es who recently appeared at Summertown Library.
You can find Adults' Book Awards and Children's Book Awards booklists in our Good Reads section on the library website.

February is LGBT History Month… it is 50 years since the Stonewall Riots, a pivotal moment in LGBT+ rights and history, and this year’s LGBT History Month theme is Peace, Activism and Reconciliation marking how far we have come since 1969.
It is the ideal time too to read about LGBT lives past and present.

You can visit our Good Reads LGBT* reading lists to discover a whole range of books available in Oxfordshire Libraries that will move you and challenge your perceptions at LGBT* Reads. There are suggestions for adults and teens, and for children’s books about LGBT* families, gender and being different. Keep scrolling down the page and you'll find it.

We have been here at our temporary library building for two months. The Woodstock community are very grateful to have a library facility back again after our closure. It's great to be linked with the Oxfordshire Museum. We have already run our first event here together, a Harry Potter Book event. Thirty children attended and it was a successful and enjoyable evening.
For the under 5s we have started 'Stay, Play and Learn' which is for parents and carers with children under 5. These sessions are every Thursday from 10.15 until 11.30 and are free. Come and join in the fun!
