MADNORSKI EARNS ITS FIRST EVER SKI CLUB CERTIFICATION

From US Ski and Snowboard
It’s been a challenging winter (weather-wise) for cross country skiers, but shake off the blues with a hot bowl of chili and a cold beverage at Monday’s meeting of the Madison Nordic Ski Club February 11, 2019 at the Lussier Center at 3101 Lake Farm Rd, Madison, WI.

Come hear the news about Madnorski being awarded Bronze Level Certification by US Ski & Snowboard! It’s the biggest national recognition in the 35-year history of the club.

Doors open at the Lussier Center at 6 p.m. with a fundraiser chili dinner served at 6:30 p.m. by members of the Madnorski Junior Team, fresh off their appearance at the State Meet in Cable.  As always, the club will provide beverages including free beer from our friends at One Barrel Brewing.

While working up an appetite, browse the items available for bid in the Silent Auction. All proceeds from the auction and chili feed benefit the Junior Team to help offset the cost of things like coaching, travel, and race entry fees. Bring your credit card or checkbook to show support for the kids.

After eating, we’ll get updates on all other club activities including the recent Winter Fest and the wildly popular ski lessons offered at Elver Park by Madnorski volunteers. A big shout-out to Kristin Cooper for organizing this effort, which has helped the club follow its motto of “cross country skiing for everyone.”
CERTIFIED AWESOME
Finally, we’ll get a presentation from Youth Program Director Carly Ziegler, who was instrumental in helping Madnorski earn Bronze Certification from US Ski & Snowboard. The certification program required a rigorous, mission-driven “self-assessment” and review of the best principles and practices in eight areas of organizational performance.

Here is a link to all US clubs with certification.

The certification process not only recognizes club excellence, but also offers a clear roadmap for all clubs to become stronger organizations. It’s part of US Ski & Snowboard’s plan to become a more club-based organization and better understand the challenges and opportunities that exist for clubs in every corner of the country.
“This award puts Madnorski in the top 10% of ski and snowboard clubs in the country and makes us one of only 2 Nordic ski clubs in the Midwest with this certification.”
