It’s February, which is a busy time for the Academy and its DPGs such as NE. That’s because February is Election Time! From Feb. 1-15 we have the opportunity to cast our votes for the future of Academy leadership, both overall and within our dietary practice groups. As a member organization we can’t be effective at serving our 3,800-plus members if we don’t hear from them via their voting choices – so exercise your right and make your vote count!
Also – a hint from me to you: vote early! The system can be slow or even non-responsive when it gets overloaded. Please don’t wait until 11pm CT on Friday, Feb. 15 to log in.
The other big NE news (“NE-ws”?) is that we will finalize our switch from Yahoo Groups (EMLs) to the new NE Hub communications platform on NEdpg.org, creating a one-stop shop for all member-to-member communications.
Our original plan was to close the Yahoo Groups at the end of this week after the Academy elections, but we heard from members that some would like a little extra time with the transition. The new close date for Yahoo Groups will be February 28. Come March 1, we will exclusively be using the NE Hub on NEdpg.org. This gives you extra time to set up your own profile, and manage your account settings – including having all new posted topics and replies sent straight to your email inbox – no need to log in and check out the message boards (unless you really want to!) You can even reply-by-email simply by hitting “reply” to those email alerts – much the same way you did with Yahoo Groups.
We want to make this transition as smooth as possible for you, so we will be hosting interactive Q&A help sessions via Webex at the following days and times (links are below in Upcoming Events as well):

Every year at FNCE® the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics honors members who demonstrate active participation, leadership and devotion to the Academy and service to the profession through its prestigious annual awards. These include the following
- Marjorie Hulsizer Copher Award
- Lenna Frances Cooper Memorial Lecture
- Medallion Awards
- Excellence in Practice Awards
- Media Excellence Award
The NE Awards Committee is seeking your nominations so we can submit it, with NE’s support, to the Academy Honors Committee.
To see which award(s) you might qualify for, visit the Academy Awards Page. The deadline for all submissions to the Academy is March 1st. To be considered for NE’s support in your nomination, we will need the following from you no later than 12:00 pm EST on Friday, February 15th:
- A cover letter written in the third person
- Resume or CV
