Happy weekend! Please accept this placement information from the science department.
Dear 8th Grade Students and Parents or Guardians,
High school science course recommendations have been made and are posted in Aspen. These recommendations were made based on student scores on the five criteria:
Performance Average (Sept 1-January 31)
Process Average (Sept 1-January 31)
Logical Thinking Test
Science Skills Assessment
Midterm Exam
In order to qualify for a certain level course, four out of the five criteria must be met. In certain cases the 5th criterion can also be a factor, as CCHS has set absolute minimum scores for honors consideration on the Logical Thinking Test and Performance averages.
The chart below outlines the ranges for each course. This document provides further details, as well as high school course descriptions. You can find the student scores earned on each placement criterion in a separate category in Aspen. (Note: A score of B6 or <6 on the Logical Thinking Test means a score below 6 was earned).

After looking at the scores earned and ranges for each course, if students wish to apply for an override into a different course, they may fill out this Google Form. All applications for override will be reviewed by a joint committee of CMS and CCHS science teachers in mid-March. You will be notified of their decision shortly after.
