COE Research Internship Deadline: Feb 18

All Wes undergrads, regarding of class year or major, are invited to apply for a COE Research Internship for summer 2019, fall 2019, or spring 2020. Please note: Recipients must be Wes undergrads at the time of internship.

COE summer 2019 internships carry a stipend of $4,400. Fall and spring semester amounts will vary based upon duration and hours per week spent on research. Click here to email me if you're having trouble accessing the online application.

Quijada Publishes New Book

Congrats to Assistant Professor of Religion and COE fellow Justine Quijada, whose new book, Buddhists, Shamans, and Soviets: Rituals of History in Post-Soviet Buryatiawill be published on February 15 by Oxford University Press.

Oteiza Publishes Street Theater Research

Associate Professor of Theater Marcela Oteiza's research has just been published in the Journal of Theatre and Performance Design. The article includes text and photos from Wesleyan students who participated in the study abroad winter session 2018-- including the photo above, by Jose Luis Sanchez.

McLeod '19 Photo Exhibition at Zilkha

Opening February 18 and running through February 24 at the Zilkha Gallery, Bears Ears: A Photo Exhibition by Fiona McLeod features a range of photographs taken within the greater Bears Ears region by COE fellow Fiona McLeod '19, an American Studies major with a concentration in Indigenous Studies. The photographs in this exhibition (including the photo above, in all its uncropped glory!) were taken while Fiona was conducting field research in Bears Ears for her Honors Thesis.

Weil Presents "Bestiary" at Davison

Now showing at the Davison Art Center: Bestiary, an exhibition by University Professor and COE faculty member Kari Weil. Bestiary takes its inspiration from medieval compendia of wondrous creatures, both natural and fantastic. The exhibit features many images from the DAC's own collection and runs now through March 7. More details on the DAC website.
