Gregory Chabolla, woodworking artist
Robert Johnson, founder of woodworking blog site Sawinery.net, got in touch with Autism Eye to tell us the inspiring story of Gregory Chabolla.
At the age of three-and-a-half Gregory was diagnosed with a form of autism called Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). His mother, Michelle, was told that he might never speak, write, learn or even feed himself because of his condition.
Now, however, he is a scroll saw artist and runs his own woodworking business. He takes part in art shows and festivals, and through Facebook he often invites people to join him and see his work.
Gregory says: "It makes me very happy to make friends, family and customers smile when they see my work. They are amazed and it makes me smile. I make a lot of friends at my art festivals when they come to my booth."
He is pictured above left creating one of his artworks, and above right displaying a selection of them for sale. Click here to visit his website.
