RISE Together, is a national female mentorship network that connects women of color seminary students and early/mid-career clergy with experienced women ministers, pastors, scholars and community leaders.  Founded as an initiative of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York in collaboration with the Women of Color in Ministry Project, RISE, through monthly cohort gatherings in 7 cities, supports both the professional and pastoral formation of women of color. Drawing on insights from the year-long focus group research, conducted by Rev. Dr. Lisa D. Rhodes, LCSW, the RISE acronym was selected to represent the mentorship network’s four program objectives: Renew, Inspire, Support and Empower. During monthly female-centered safe and brave spaces, women of color connect to an affirming mentoring community and sisterhood of ministry leaders. Each regional cohort is guided by a two-year leadership curriculum that promotes liberation and thriving while supporting women’s pastoral agency and authenticity.
