Okray Colloquium addresses trauma in classroom

OkrayWhen dealing with trauma in your classroom, simply changing the question of, "What's wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?" could make the world of difference for you and your students. That was one of the key messages students took away during the 2019 School of Education Okray Colloquium Feb. 13. View Photos

Marty's Message

Many of the initiatives and programs in the College of Professional Studies would not be possible if not for the support of our donors. In this Monday Message we share information about our annual Okray Colloquium. It is important to note that this program exists because of a very special elementary education alumna named Patricia (Pat) Okray ’54.

Pat is one of the School of Education’s most devoted supporters. Her generosity has made it possible for UWSP to give our future teachers opportunities that sharpen the skills they will need when they go into the classroom.

In addition to the Okray Colloquium, Pat’s support provides a multitude of professional development opportunities for students in the Aspiring Educators organization as well as annual student scholarships.

We can’t thank her enough for all that she has done to ensure our future educators are well prepared to make a difference for children across Wisconsin.

Marty Loy,
CPS Dean
