Shelley Drake
Rest in eternal peace
Shelley Drake, our parish consultant died five minutes into the Day of the Resurrection, Sunday, February 10th. Shelley has been associated with Canterbury for about a year, arriving as the congregation's pastoral consultant. She has become a friend to many of us.  Celebrations of her life are being planned in Annapolis (MD), Dallas, Tyler (TX), Phoenix and Albuquerque. Watch for more local information.

Rest eternal grant to Shelley, O Lord,
and let light perpetual shine upon her.
May her soul, and the souls of all the departed
through the mercies of God rest in peace.
A photo-quote inspiration shared in loving memory of Shelley Drake:
Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up.

Last chance for Congregational Assessment Tool Survey
Many thanks to all who have filled out the Congregation Assessment Tool, the online survey. This survey helps us to tell the story of St Thomas of Canterbury as we begin our rector search. We now have over 50% participation!
If you have not completed the survey, please do no later than Wednesday, February 20th. Any questions, please contact Bob Moriarty 646.828.9170 or bob.moriarty@gmail.com

Dinner with the Bishop
On Friday night, Feb. 8th, the Vestry, Search Committee, and a few spouses met at Canterbury for dinner and discussion with the Bishop. Many thanks to Eileen Lambert for organizing the dinner! The Bishop explained the Search Process as it will now be conducted in the Diocese of the Rio Grande giving us some important pointers with much encouragement. The work is Canterbury's to do but the Diocese is available to assist us if needed.

To begin the process we must first identify who we are and where we want to go. Step One is already under way in the form of the Survey - Step Two will be a meeting of the entire Congregation to gather more specific information. Please watch the weekly Canterbury Communications and listen for announcements made at each of our services for details as these events are scheduled. We'll need input from everyone to be the most successful so please join in.

For the moment please pray for the Search Committee and the Vestry as we undertake this new and exciting challenge!
Pat Eads, for the Search Committee

Frey Scholarship Sunday is February 24, 2019

The open plate offering collected in each congregation on the last Sunday in February is designated for the Bishop William and Barbara Frey Scholarship Fund in partial support of DRG seminarians. Bishop Frey served the Diocese as Assisting Bishop from 2008 until the consecration of Bishop Vono in November 2010. The Frey Fund was established in honor of the Freys by resolution of Diocesan Convention. Checks should be sent to the Diocese with the Fund designated in the memo line.
