Progress and Events in our Schools

Progress in Our Essex Programmes
As mock exams commence, students at Ortu Gable Hall School (bottom images) and Woodlands School (Top Image ) are  working on revision and exam technique sessions, getting them ready to smash those assessments!

At Woodlands, our newly joined tutor (and teacher at  the school)  Austen reported, 'Students were largely engaged in the task. Students appeared to be interested in the findings from the revision research article. They were then able to apply the research findings to their own experiences and appraise the research outcomes.'

At Gable Hall, students Samantha, Bethany, Kanye and Lily have shown impressive levels of enagagement and enjoyed the practical elements of these revision and exams-driven sessions. Great work tutors and students!

Southwark Schools Learning Partnership
We were excited to welcome schools from the SSLP this week, to observe our current programme at University Academy of Engineering, showcasing the work our tutors Sarah, Mohammad, Claire and John are doing on our Subject Specific Programme  with 16 high-ability students.

Midpoint Surveys
Midpoint Surveys are taking place across many of our schools, in parallel to end of term grade data assesmentsd, helping us to monitor the progression of our students and understand the impact our programme has on their learning.

We have recently began digitising our surveys as many tutors will know, this has improved the efficiency of our data collection and tightened our ability to quickly analyse the information we collect from the students, helping us understand the areas that our students need the most help in.

West London Opportunities with John Lyon's Charity

We are really excited to be re-engaging with schools in West London with the support and funding of John Lyon's Charity.

Schools have the  opportunity to benefit from partial funding of a TalentEd programme with the generous support provided by John Lyons Charity. One of the schools that we are in talks with is West London Free School, Hammersmith, who ran a TalentEd programme in 2017-18 and were very positive about the impact of the programme on students who attended. If your school would like to take advantage of grant funding, we would like to hear from you.

John Lyon's charity which, 'give grants to benefit children and young people up to the age of 25 who live in nine boroughs in North and West London.'  Since 1991, John Lyon's has 'distributed over £100 million to a range of organisations that seek to promote the life-chances of children and young people through education.'

CEO Matthew Roberts on the DBS Update Service System

Fed up with having to wait for DBS approval, worried it can't be used between employees or that it may have expired and no longer be valid causing delays and loss of earnings? The DBS update service may be a good solution involving little more than a minimal annual fee and  once registered which might be recoverable from an employer... read more
