March News

The Harwich Cultural Center would like to welcome you to our monthly newsletter where we share the stories that have inspired us this past month, and inform you of our ever-evolving vision for near future.

The center is a cooperative effort between the Town and our greatest resource - the creative, local individuals that help to make our town a destination for visitors from around the world. The building provides valuable “launch space” where individuals can actualize their creative gifts and contribute to the local economy.

Whether they are engaged in the visual and performing arts, the health and wellness of others, or in the generation of ideas for the town’s future, the building’s occupants and visitors strive to impact town culture in ways that #InspiresHarwich.

Harwich Arts & Music Festival presents: Deeper Than the Skin with Reggie Harris and Greg Greenway

Two friends one Black, one White. One from the North one from the South! Musicians, storytellers, students of history and world travelers born 3 days apart! Two separate narratives forged into one powerful friendship aimed at finding common ground and helping others to do the same.

More than just a concert...

The presentation begins with a song followed by another song..that moves into a poem and then an invitation. This is not just another evening of talk. This is not just a concert of songs that just entertain.

Deeper Than the Skin is a experience of singing and listening of experiencing a connection so deep that it makes you laugh, smile, cry and reconsider what you know about our history. Its an invitation to open your heart and mind to a story of shared humanity that resonates with your own.

Deeper Than the Skin brings together a remarkable journey that started 30 years ago and is now offering hope to people all over the nation. Its a presentation that ends with an open dialogue that moves the audience from emotion into action that gives voice and direction to the question: What can I do?

Indoor Meditative Labyrinth Walks

Indoor Meditative Labyrinth Walks with Facilitators Dr. Margaret Rappaport and Darlene T. Hagon are held the second Friday of each month at 10:00 AM. Free and open to the public.

Each walk has a theme to aid people in appreciating and discussing their experiences with the labyrinth. Sharing the labyrinth with others in conversation often requires words that convey the meaning and significance in the practice of walking the labyrinth, alone or in groups. Programs are an opportunity to encounter the labyrinth as a “walking meditation tool for personal and professional transformation and community building” on a consistent basis.
