Good-Bye NC/Hello GA

We are wrapping up our Hurricane Florence response in the Jacksonville/Richlands area in North Carolina, and are in the process of breaking down and moving Camp Calvary to our next deployment. Since we arrived in September, we have been able to help several folks in many ways.  In the early stages, we helped with the initial cleanup and with sorting through all the insurance/lender/contractor red tape, and with tarping roofs, cutting down and moving trees, providing temporary housing, and cleaning out homes down to the bare studs and then remediating them. We also assisted in rebuilding, helping some get back in their homes. Throughout the process, we also fed people both physically and Spiritually!  The LORD is soooooo good and we’re so blessed that He continues to allow us to be used for His Kingdom!  We are also thankful for your faithful prayers and giving.  You are truly part of all that Jesus is doing as we’ve been His Hands and Feet here in NC!

We were blessed to serve alongside many volunteers from all around the country. Some were new faces and others were those who have helped several times in the past, and we had a few locals as well.  We were met with many attacks as satan clearly isn’t happy with the work and ministry that goes on with Calvary Relief, but as Romans 8:28 states, because we love and obey The LORD and are doing what He wants us to do, God is working in and through us to make us and those we serve and serve with more like His Son, Jesus, and we rejoice in that!

And now on to our next adventure!  We’re starting the long process of breaking down Camp Calvary, and that’s no easy task!  We’ll be on the road by the 7th.  We’re deploying to Savannah, GA where we will be spending 2-3 months helping CC Savannah deconstruct their current location, and build-out their new location beginning February 25th.  In between, we’ll be getting settled and set up in our new camp location.  Our daughter and son-in-law have just purchased their first home not too far from where we’ll be, so we’ll spend a week helping them in any way we can.  From there we’re going to the Southeast CC Pastor’s Conference at CC Merritt Island, FL.  If you’re going to be there, please look us up.  And then we immediately get back to Savannah to get started on the church project!

This will be the third church we've helped build-out, and we've done other remodeling, etc work on several others since we started Calvary Relief. Since our son Nick Hencye is the lead pastor at CC Savannah, this is an extra special privilege from The LORD for us to be part of and we're really excited!  This is going to be a lot of work, quick.  They don’t officially take possession of the new location until March 1.  Their lease is up on March 31, and even though they’ve been faithful renters for 15 years and there is no one else interested in the building at this time, the only option for extra time that the landlord will give them is to sign a six-month lease.

We’ll be treating this project much the same way we approach disaster relief.  We’ll have our volunteer trailer set up to provide a place to stay, eat, get cleaned up, relax, etc for our volunteers.  We’ll do our morning hour and a half of Bible study, and then work and of course fellowship and fun serving The LORD together!  We’ve had several people express interest in joining us, but so far no one has committed!  If you’re interested in serving alongside of us in Savannah, please contact us right away.

Our son and daughter-in-law, Nick and Brittany, are currently looking to purchase their first home, so keep that in your prayers and also for how we can help them once that happens.  We are so blessed that our kids are faithfully serving The LORD and for us to be able to be part of what He is doing as they plant roots and grow where Jesus has planted them!

We also need to take some time of maintenance for all of our vehicles, trailers, tools, etc, and for our own bodies as we’ve been going pretty hard since we went full-time over 6 years ago now on top of the 8+ years of full-time jobs, other ministry involvement and part-time disaster relief missionaries! We hope to fit that in after and during the Savannah trip.

The pics are of some of the work that we were privileged to be part of here in NC and the rainbow over our trailer as we rolled into Richlands the last day of serving here!
