One of Trigg’s finest Volunteers and a true gentleman, a long serving Life Member who was recognised and awarded the 50-year Volunteer Badge for services rendered to the Surf Lifesaving movement by the State Govt.
Lindsay first became involved in surf lifesaving when he joined Surf Lifesaving Victoria in the early 1950s. When his employer transferred him to WA in 1971, he joined Trigg Island Surf Life Saving Club. After another work-related transfer interstate and back, he finally was able to settle at Trigg SLSC in 1985 and stayed ever since. Lindsay had held various positions at the club, including vice president, competition officer, interclub competition officer, director of coaching and competition, club gear officer, club trustee and march past coach male and female for many years. In 1995 Lindsay was made a life member and remained actively involved until recently.
His presence will always remain around the club with the “Dads Army” work area named “The Lindsay Bistrup Gear Shed”. Too great to ever be forgotten.
Deepest sympathy to the Bistrup family.
