REMEMBERING CARL JENNINGS

We at Douglas UCC are saddened to share the news that our beloved church member, Carl Jennings, died on February 3rd at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale.
Carl and his husband of 50 years, Larry Gammons, helped establish Saugatuck/Douglas as a gay-friendly tourist destination when they opened the Douglas Dunes Resort almost 40 years ago. Carl was also a founding member of West Shore Aware.
He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and for his enormous generosity to our church and community-at-large.
A visitation will be held in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, February 7, at Baird-Case Jordan-Fannin Funeral Home (4343 N. Federal Hwy.) at noon, followed by a service at 1 p.m.
A visitation will be held in Saugatuck/Douglas on Sunday, February 10, at Dykstra Funeral Home in Saugatuck from 4 to 7 p.m., and a Memorial Service will take place at Douglas UCC on Monday, February 11, at 1 p.m..

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Carl’s name to West Shore Aware Scholarship Fund or Wishbone Animal Rescue.
