Explore the diversity of employment with EMP FEST! 


EMP FEST is an interdisciplinary Employment Festival held on-campus Monday, February 11 - Friday, February 15. The festival includes over 25 diverse professional and career development events over 5 days hosted by student groups, internal and external organizations.

This is a festival for students, hosted by students to help define career paths and explore the diversity of employment. EMP Fest includes sessions on resume building, networking your way to success, pathways to immigration and Canadian work culture and more!

International Student Services offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities from Event Assistant to Office Volunteer and everything in between! Getting involved with the ISS Volunteer team is a great way to build teamwork skills, improve interpersonal communications skills, and develop your leadership skills.

By volunteering, you can:
  • Add this experience to your resume
  • Achieve recognition on your co-curricular record
  • Gain valuable work experience
  • Receive a reference letter (after 20 hours)

Experience a breathtaking winter wonderland with the Silver Skate Festival! 


The Silver Skate Festival is the longest running winter festival in Edmonton.  The festival is a FREE 10-day, family-oriented event running February 8 -18 in Hawrelak Park.

The festival transforms Hawrelak Park with breathtaking snow sculptures, winter sports, a horse-drawn carriage and more! Cook bannock over an open fire and enjoy live musical performances with friends and loved ones.

Experience all that Elk Island National Park has to offer!


Campus & Community Recreation (CCR) is hosting a snowshoeing trip to Elk Island National Park on February 23. Elk Island has been ranked 8th in the world by National Geographic for wildlife watching. This trip is a great opportunity to see wildlife, get some fresh air and try your hand at snowshoeing. 

The cost of the trip is $55, includes transportation, along with park interpretation to get an understanding of the geography and wildlife the park protects.
