State Proposes Green New Deal
On January 15, Governor Cuomo announced the most aggressive clean energy targets in the nation under New York's Green New Deal. The ambitious proposal, part of the 2019 Justice Agenda, includes a mandate for New York’s power to be 100 percent carbon-free by 2040. Learn more
Polar Vortexes May be Tied to Climate Change
The frigid weather experienced last week across much of the U.S. may become more commonplace. Scientists suspect that the polar vortex breakdowns can be tied to the warming Arctic, a result of climate change. Learn more

Hector Street Complete Street Project Report Released
The City of Ithaca has posted the Draft Project Scoping Report / Final Design Report for the Hector Street Complete Street Project, which would extend the current sidewalk, enhance conditions for bicyclists, and add 2 bus shelters along Hector Street (Route 79), from Floral Avenue (Rt 13A) to 500 feet past the City/Town boundary line. Business Energy Advisors
Tompkins County's new Business Energy Advisors Program offers free energy consulting services for new construction, renovations, and expansion projects. Businesses can obtain advice on operations to save energy and operational costs, and receive guidance on available incentives, financing, and application processes for energy efficient and renewable energy technologies.
