Fundraising News

This month we are thinking a lot about our community of supporters here at OTR Bristol. We aim to think of all our supporters as one community of kind people who care. Some people choose to fundraise or nominate us at work as a Charity of the Year. Others prefer to offer us their time, skills or donations - and we appreciate any form of support!

One of the collective efforts that we enjoyed last year was the summer skydive. We are now recruiting for the 2019 skydive, so if you know anyone who would like to take part, please get in touch by replying to this email!

In other news, our main donations platform MyDonate announced it is shutting down this summer. We are working hard on setting up VirginMoney and JustGiving to give you more options. In the meantime feel free to use Facebook's fundraising tools - it's super-easy to set up a fundraising event (such as a birthday donation call-out!) using Facebook.

We also have a small call for help from BADCASS - they are organising their annual ball in support of OTR, so if you have any small vouchers or similar offers they could give away in their raffle in support of OTR Bristol, please let us know.

Our thanks go to...

This month we would like to say thank you to the organisations that supported us with fundraising but also with their time, skills and other donations in 2018:

In 2019 we are working with:

Do you have a skill or donation you can offer? Please get in touch!

Please note that sometimes people support us without getting in touch or simply drop off items at our reception - if you were not mentioned, do let us know!

HUBs

OTR’s Hubs are a safe and relaxed space where young people age 11-25 can simply drop into for a chat – no appointments needed. We welcome all young people and do not turn anyone away. Our Hub drop-in sessions run every week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year, but there are other Hubs that pop-up across Bristol and South Gloucestershire at different times and venues time. Each Hub is run by our friendly team of Peer Navigators (trained young people), Engagement Workers and Social Workers, who are always on hand to have a natter about our services and help young people sign up. The aim of the Hub is to make accessing OTR and other local mental health services as easy and worry free as possible. Young people can meet us before deciding whether they want to access some support, and they can explore all the different projects we offer in more detail to find the right one for them. Our Hubs also offer a range of different taster sessions for OTR’s various projects and groups.

If you want to find out a little bit more about our hubs, do check out this article over at NESTA UK's website. In September 2018 our Hubs were nominated as runner up winners of their Good Help Award so we had an opportunity to present our work in more detail.

If you want to promote our Hubs internally do keep an eye on our website, or sign up to the central OTR E-Newsletter for the latest on when and where these are.

Notes from OTR team
Laura Hutton, Team Leader (Engagement and Participation): "I'm pleased to introduce myself as the new Team Leader for Engagement and Participation, holding the fort for Laura Brain whilst she is on maternity leave. An exciting part of my new role is to assist in the ongoing development of our OTR HUBs, which is a relaxed space to find out more about our projects. At the HUBs we showcase our projects through taster sessions, offer a creative drop in, have a community kitchen where young people have a go at cooking, offer hand-outs and take away resources - and of course there's tea and biscuits!"
Liam McKinnon, Marketing, Communications and Digital Manager: "Last year OTR piloted a shop, working with young people to create and sell fun items with a wellbeing-related twist. We got off to a strong start, including exhibiting our items (mugs, posters, prints) at some local events and raising vital money for our work. This year, we have a team of UWE students on-board to help us develop the OTR Shop and make it sustainable for the future. We'd appreciate any guidance or support with this new enterprise - if, for instance, you'd like to bulk-buy mugs for your office, let us know and we can offer a charity partner discount! Stay tuned to our social media for more news on the OTR Shop soon."
Featured Skills Offer
This month we would like to say a huge thank you to Rob Ward, the Managing Director of LanciaConsult in Bristol. Rob came over to our offices in the Old Market to discuss the best approach to CRM systems. Based on Rob's feedback, we have decided to go for HubSpot as the best tool for now. We will be testing it for better management of our community contacts to support you all even better. Thank you so much for all your time and help, Rob!
OTR Shopping List

In our January newsletter we have shared our an online shopping list with you. This month we have included a section on Hubs there too. If you want to help us with some of those items feel free to get them or get in though with me to discuss it first. We will keep the list updated during the year so keep an eye on it!
