"The Bright Side" by Brad Reed
I am dedicating this photograph to my Grandma, Dorothy Jean Benson Reed. My grandma loved seeing all the different kinds of art work that her family members made and she always found joy in supporting the arts. I know she is dancing with Grandpa in Heaven now and they are smiling down on all of us. Nikon D810. F22 at 1/6, ISO 100. 24-70mm lens at 24mm. On a tripod without a flash. “Ice Break” by Todd Reed
The crews of these tugboats took a work break for a couple days from rebuilding the Ludington carferry docks at the end of January due to sub-zero temperatures and high winds. Pere Marquette Lake froze around the small ships, which can break their way free as soon as they are needed. Nikon D850. F11 at 1/60, ISO 200. 24-70mm lens at 36mm. On a tripod without a flash. “The Adventurer” by Brad Reed
After seeing photographs by other photographers of Miners Falls in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, I decide it was finally time for me to go see this beautiful waterfall for myself. Rachel Gaudette had photographed the falls several years ago in the spring time. We went back recently after a gorgeous snowfall and luckily had our Yaktraxs on our boots. I stayed up on the main viewing platform, while Rachel slid down the steep banks to make the shot she had previsualized for years in her head. I love the little person in the big world concept and her blue coat really helped pull everything together. Nikon D810. F22 at 1/6, ISO 100. 24-70mm lens at 38mm. On a tripod with an external flash set to rear sync. January 4, 2019 at 1:30pm.

“Icy Behemoths” by Todd Reed
Minutes after posting a cell phone shot of this view January 30 of the carferries Badger, left, and Spartan coated in snow and ice at their Ludington berth, a Facebook friend described the twin ships as “icy behemoths”. I loved the description and therefore decided to name my higher-quality Nikon image just that. Nikon D850. F11 at 1/60, ISO 200. 24-70mm lens at 36mm. January 30, 2019 at 5:19pm.

“Polar Vortex” by Todd Reed
The Ludington lighthouse was beautifully adorned with ice on the opening morning of February, following several days of arctic cold, high winds and waves. Ducks flocked to an area of open water along north side of the breakwater. Nikon D800. F5.6 at 1/100, ISO 100. 500mm lens with a 1.4 extender at 700mm. On a tripod without a flash.
