Dear friends,

It is my pleasure to present you the latest updates on our company’s operations main activities, on our endeavours to increase sustainability in the challenging Romanian wood industry, as well as our current Corporate Social Responsibility actions.

This January marks two years since the action plan for a sustainable industry was launched, in 2017. Committed to transparent communications, we presented an overview of our progress in implementing the measures. A glimpse is included below. We’re also proud to announce the development of a new Code of Conduct, currently being rolled-out with all our colleagues and partners, which will allow us to fulfil our mission and vision of perpetual improvement - Getting better every day!

The Holzindustrie Schweighofer Action Plan for a sustainable wood industry

In January 2017 we announced an ambitious set of measures designed to fight the phenomenon of illegal logging and to support the sustainable development of the Romanian wood industry. Two years later, we take a look at what we have achieved so far.
More details are available on the company website.

New Code of Conduct

Part of our stated mission to continuously improve our business conduct, both in relation to our colleagues and our partners, we are committed to treating all of them with respect, fairness and integrity, and to uphold all rules and legislation without compromise. To take this process of improvement a step further, we established a new Code of Conduct and started rolling it out with help of the well-known experts of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA). The Holzindustrie Schweighofer Code of Conduct can be viewed here.

Corporate Social Responsibility

For the future of the Romanian industry, a strong body of skilled and talented workers is essential. That’s why we have been supporting vocational education through scholarship programmes, extended practical training in our mills, and donations and endowments to the schools training tomorrow’s professionals. After running a successful programme in Moinesti (Bacau county) for three years, we recently started a dual vocational education class in the northern town of Siret (Suceava county).
