Accessible Customer Service Workshop
Improving accessibility is the right thing to do. It is also the smart thing to do, and it’s now the law in Manitoba. The Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA) outlines a clear and proactive process to identify, remove and prevent barriers to access. Through presentation and discussion, you will learn how to identify barriers at your organization and improve overall accessibility to ensure your camp complies with the first Accessibility Standard for Customer Service. This two-hour interactive workshop targets individuals who are responsible for developing and implementing policies and standards at their organization.

Date: Wed Feb 13, 2019
Time: 10 am – 12 noon
Place: Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave St.  Room 200, upstairs
Led by: Emily Walker, Policy Analyst
Disabilities Issues Office (DIO)

Camp of the Week 2019
We have begun organizing Camp of the Week details for the 2019 camping season.
This is an opportunity to get some free publicity through MCA.
I would love to get something from all 37 Member camps.
Yes, all 37 - no matter how big or small.
Right now, I have heard back from 17 camps - almost half way.
Let's fill these dates up
Let me know as soon as possible, what week you would like to be highlighted.
Here is a preliminary schedule of what I would like to do.
Monday: Camp overview and a group pic (staff/campers/volunteers)
Tuesday: Five or six pics (closeups of people enjoying themselves)
Wednesday: 1-2 minute video - interview with someone who can talk camp
Thursday: Some Throwback Thursday pics
Friday: Favourite camp song (inc video or audio if possible)

For the Wednesday interview, I am willing to travel if you have an office in the city (or close to the city) or we can connect via Skype and I can record that. As a last resort, I can record a phone interview.

Please email as soon as possible to connect for a spot in the calendar. If all 37 camps do indeed get back to me, there will be a few weeks where we have two camps of the week.

Looking for a Movie Shoot Location
Damien Ferland is an independent documentary filmmaker in Winnipeg looking to shoot at a summer camp in late Spring or late Summer. He wants to re-enact his childhood memories and describe those experiences in front of the camera at the camp he shoots in.

He is currently applying for a modest arts grant. If there is a camp that would be kind enough to assist him in providing a location, he is wondering if that camp would require an honorarium for this, and if so, what that might be. He would be accompanied by an extremely small number of people and it’s his desire to provide an atmosphere that would not cause any bother or disruption to the camp.

If you can help Damien, email him at:
damienferland@gmail.com.
