The Man Van

The Prostate Cancer Centre is a non-profit that focuses on prostate cancer awareness and early detection. They have a mobile testing unit (the Man Van) which they set up in public places for men over 40 to get free blood tests. They are going to be visiting us on March 8th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and any male staff, clients, or volunteers who are eligible are able to get tested.
If you are around, please take this opportunity to come and visit the Man Van.

Reminder to all volunteers to park in the volunteer parking lot and take the shuttle to the Food Bank.
Thank you.

Proper housekeeping is an essential component of a good health and safety program. It is more than just cleanliness. Effective housekeeping can eliminate workplace hazards that could cause injuries or other incidents such as fires.

All employees and volunteers are required to clean-up after themselves in their work spaces and common lounge/eating areas. The CFB housekeeping guidelines are:

  • You see it, you own it.
  • Clean as you go.
  • Do not leave open food lying about. Store in a proper food storage container and place in the fridge or cupboard.
  • Ensure aisles, entrances, exits and stairways are free from materials, equipment and accumulation of waste or other obstructions.
  • Clean up spills and pick up debris as soon as they occur or are noticed.
  • Emergency equipment must always be readily accessible. Do not block or place items on the ground underneath emergency equipment.

The CFB’s monthly facility inspection checks all areas for blocked emergency equipment and tripping hazards. However, housekeeping duties must be done regularly to ensure a good standard is maintained. Thank you for your continued efforts to eliminate workplace hazards through good housekeeping and ensuring the CFB is a safe facility for everyone on-site.
