Black History Month at SPL

Celebrate Black History Month by challenging yourself to read a book by an African or African-American author. Or watch a variety of movies documenting African American cinema, history and more on Kanopy.

Also, don't miss our special events in honor of Black History Month:

Nominations Extended!

Don't delay! Nominations for Citizen Hall of Fame are extended to end of day today, February 8th. Do you know an extraordinary Spokanite? Nominate them!

2018 was a year of looking toward the future. We focused on planning our Vision 2025 and developing plans to renovate and build the Library of the Future, culminating in the passing of City of Spokane Bond Proposition 1.
See all our accomplishments in this short video.

While social media use gives citizens access to a wealth of information, it also exposes them to messages that are carefully tailored and targeted in a highly sophisticated manner. More ominously, social media can be used to psychologically manipulate voters in unprecedented ways, beyond the fact-checking and scrutiny of the news media spotlight.
