As the legislative session has begun in full this month, I'll be sending bi-weekly legislative newsletters on my priority legislation, what I'm doing outside the statehouse, and what's going on in Concord.

Priority Legislation
SB 7 - The SMART Act will streamline our state's electoral process and bring us into the 21st century by modernizing New Hampshire's voter registration process. SB 7 will give those eligible the opportunity to register to vote when they interact with the New Hampshire DMV. By completing this process through the DMV, we'll make our elections more secure while increasing participation in our elections.

SB 241 - will finally access federal funding to bring passenger rail to New Hampshire. We need new and innovate projects like these incentivize young families to move to New Hampshire, and businesses that need access to pools of young workers. I'm happy to report that last Thursday, SB 241 was passed {14-10} "Ought to Pass" out of the Senate.

SB 174 - will establish Juneteenth as a day to reflect upon slavery’s relation to the State of New Hampshire. I applaud Governor Sununu for issuing a proclamation last year that June 19, 2018 would be recognized for a day. However, we must do more. SB 174 will ensure we observe this historic day each year and recognize Juneteenth as the day that ALL Americans were considered free. SB 174 was passed 24-0 "Ought to Pass" out of the Senate.

Last weekend, I was honored to give the opening remarks at the Black Women Magic in New Hampshire forum, hosted by the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire.
