Family Resource Corner

HELLO parents and guardians,

For those of you who are new to enCompass Academy, I am Dana Zbella, a counselor, here at enCompass. I will be sending out a newsletter at least once a quarter!

Our school is involved with Paws 4 Love, an organization that encourages literacy, volunteerism and over all well being in our community. Here at enCompass we have 6 dogs that come to visit our students; some visit once a week, and others once a month. Our students seem to really enjoy the dogs!
Studies have shown that petting an animal can lower blood pressure and heart rate, and lessen anxiety and depression.

Fearlessness
Integrity
Resourcefulness
Endurance

You will be hearing these words more often from enCompass as they have become part of who we are! These core values have become part of our mission here at enCompass.

FEARLESSNESS in the sense that we are brave and courageous concerning overcoming academic, social, and emotional barriers or challenges.
INTEGRITY is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles... doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
RESOURCEFULNESS able to meet situations; capable of (sometimes with help or support) devising ways or means to accomplish tasks.
ENDURANCE is the power to withstand something challenging and to keep going.

PROJECT 150 is a charity focused on providing essential supplies to homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students allowing them to focus on education and graduating high school. By building the knowledge and awareness of the community around us we can make education possible.

Project 150 is piloting here in Reno on the west side of the Bridge Church, which is next door to enCompass Academy (in the small brick building)— on Wednesdays 1 pm - 7 pm in February— have your student check it out on Feb. 28th. They have set up a small “boutique” for students to pick out teen items such as skinny jeans, joggers, hoodies, and leggings, some school supplies and toiletries.

If you are on Facebook like Project 150.
Please help enCompass Academy with this year's accreditation process by completing this 15 minute survey. Your student can earn a free dress day if you complete this survey and send a photo/screenshot of the final page to kristen@encompassacademy.org
