Three Things About ...
Literacy Coach Melissa Pendergraft

Ms. Pendergraft is Hilburn's Elementary Instructional Resource Teacher and Literacy Coach.

1. "I'm a North Carolina native, born and raised in Hendersonville."

2. "When I first started teaching, I taught at my former elementary school, with my fifth grade teacher."

Bonus: Kindergarten teacher Kaylee Schwarz was once Ms. Pendergraft's student, in fourth grade during the 2005-2006 school year.
The "Three Things About" Hawk Talk feature tells you three things you may not know about a Hilburn Hawk. If you'd like to suggest someone for "Three Things About," or want to submit "Three Things About" you, email Hawk Talk editor Dawn Vaughan. Past "Three Things About" have featured Mr. Smith, Ms. Winn, Ms. Boop, Ms. Grace, Ms. Burnette and Ms. Walker.

PTA leadership for 2019-2020

The Hilburn PTA Nominating Committee has started their work identifying and recruiting leaders to take on PTA Board, committee, projects and program roles. We can't do it without you! PTA leaders range from those with full-time jobs to stay at home parents. We have jobs that fit with a variety of schedules. If there has been a program, project or event this year that you'd like to help with next year, please email PTA VP-General Laura Hudson and let her know what  kinds of things you are interested in.

Hilburn Academy 25th Anniversary Committee

Hilburn Academy's 25th Anniversary as Hilburn is in 2020! The building's 25th anniversary is this year, because it was completed and opened in 1994, but not for Hilburn students until 1995. PTA Board member Dawn Vaughan and Assistant Principal Catie Burnette are forming an Anniversary Committee to plan how we'll celebrate during the 2019-2020 school year. Want to be part of it? Email PTA VP of Communications Dawn Vaughan. And stayed tuned to future Hawk Talks for a meeting date and time this spring. We especially want to hear from Hilburn alumni (both students and faculty)!
