Dear Friend,

Join us this Saturday, February 23, as we honor and celebrate MADAME VANGIE BUELL at the Sheroes & Legends Tribute Afternoon Tea at Piedmont Gardens in Oakland. Space is filling up! Register today!

Hear Madame Vangie's story of what it was like growing up as a Filipina woman in the United States; the discrimination, the harassment, the rules of what to wear, her experience of not being allowed to go to school (and how she navigated those rules), and how she endured signs such as "Positively No Filipinos and Dogs Allowed" in restaurants and public places.
Evangeline Canonizado Buell (Vangie) - 100 Most Influential Filipina Women
Madame Evangeline (Vangie) Canonizado Buell is a FWN Sheroes & Legends Awardee 2012, Activist, Award-Winning Author, Musician, Powerful Storyteller, domestic violence survivor, FWN's Vagina Warrior 2004 and one of FWN's 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the United States 2007. This video is part of a series of video stories of the 100 most influential Filipina women in the U.S. selected by the Filipina Women's Network.

February is African American History Month. Let's show Vangie how much we respect what she has accomplished for the Filipino American community. February is also the month of love. Let's show Vangie our FWN Sister LOVE!

A granddaughter of a Buffalo Soldier, Vangie's story is important to our culture and to hear it first-hand is precious to our history in the United States. Vangie is the Filipino American community's Maya Angelou. So BE there. Bring your daughters, your nieces, your sisters, your aunts, your women friends, your mothers. Bring the girls in your neighborhood to meet Vangie.

See you there!

About the Filipina Leadership Global Summit14th Filipina Leadership Global Summit logo

The Summit brings together Filipina women global leaders, influencers, thinkers and public figures for discussions, learning journeys, “kwentuhan strategies” on how to succeed as multi-cultural professionals and private chats to ignite cooperation through public and private partnerships. The high-powered gathering is a vital part of FWN’s Pinay Power 2020 Mission: A Filipina leader in every sector of the economy.
