FEBRUARY UPDATE

Creek Week is coming! There are some great events lined up this year, including kayaking with Frog Hollow Outdoors, hikes with Triangle Land Conservancy, trivia at Fullsteam Brewery, crafting and campfires with Durham Parks & Recreation, nature walks with Ellerbe Creek Watershed Association, and of course creek and park cleanups galore! Head to durhamcreekweek.org for more details and the full lineup of events.

Golf for a Greener Durham

Save the date to golf for a greener Durham with us! Our annual Spring Golf Classic will take place Friday, May 17th at the Hillandale Golf Course. Help support our mission while you play golf with your team, eat a catered lunch, and win raffle prizes. All funds raised will help us provide tools and opportunities to prevent litter, reduce waste, and increase community greening in Durham communities.

Want to be part of this event? Consider being a sponsor! Information on gift baskets, sponsoring a hole, or sponsoring the breakfast and luncheon options can be considered by emailing tania@keepdurhambeautiful.org.

Durham Celebrates Arbor Day March 15

We've been busy this Tree Planting Season - with the help of volunteers and community partners, we've planted 549 trees this year to date! Come help us celebrate Durham's 36th year of being a Tree City USA on Friday, March 15th from 10am to noon at Burton Park. We will have a small tree planting, and volunteers will have the opportunity to help clean up the park by removing litter and cutting back invasive plant species. City Council Member Javiera Caballero will also be in attendance to do the honor of reading the City of Durham Arbor Day Proclamation!

Bulb Blitz 2019 was a huge success!

On February 6th and 7th, we were able to distribute 21,795 bulbs to 104 Durham organizations, schools, faith-based groups and gardens for the 2019 Bulb Blitz! We were so grateful for the opportunity to help make our Durham communities greener and more beautiful thanks to the generous donation of overstock bulbs from Gardens Alive! and Van Engelen nurseries, arranged through our partner affiliate Keep Winston Salem Beautiful. View photos of the bulbs being planted here!
