Solo workshop with Kim Porter
Every Sunday from 6:30-9:30pm
$15 per session

Do you need something meaningful to do between acting gigs? Do you have a story you are itching to tell? Let award-winning writer/performer Kim Porter help you make that happen at the Solo Workshop.

This workshop is designed to help participants generate new material, support projects already in development, and offer accountability in a relaxed and generous small group environment.

The Solo Workshop is designed to meet the participant where they are and is therefore ideal for both beginners and established writer-performers.

Because the Solo Workshop is employing an on-going, drop-in model for participation, artists can work at their own pace and budget.

For more information about the Solo Workshop contact Kim Porter at kim@kimporter.net

Featured Performer: Rick Grove
Rick started improvising about 7.5 years ago. Some of his influences have been Jacque Arend, Sam Haldiman, Stacey Hanlon, Bob Fisher and the iO team Late 90's. He enjoys playing heightened characters by using his facial expressions and physicality. He also likes silent scenes, monoscenes and matching scenes but the Harold is his jam.
The best thing about improv is creating a piece with his friends that unfolds as you discover the realities/absurdities of that world. He also performs weekly at iO Chicago and if you are ever there to hit him up and he'll get you a comp.

Favorite quote/advice from a coach/instructor:
Build scenes line by line from the last thing that was said.

Shortform Speakeasy
Featured Performer: Tillea Baltzell
Tillea started improvising 2 years ago. She started doing short form in Los Angeles with the Groundlings before finding long form at Second Beat. Tillea's comedic influences include Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and the cast of Who's Line is it Anyways. Locally her biggest influence has been Jackie Rich.
She enjoys long form but doesn't have any particular format that she prefers. Tillea has done a lot of acting but the thing she enjoys most about improv is not being scripted. She says going "off the cuff" is challenging and fun.

Favorite quote/advice from a coach/instructor:
Take risks!

You can see Tillea perform with:
Plunk every 1st Saturday
Featured team every second Saturday

Salmon Shane

Cast: Sam Haldiman and Shane Shannon

These two have been performing together for more than seven years. Their improv style is based heavily on the straight/absurd dynamic in the most unconventional way. They are always pushing the envelope on grounding their characters' worlds with the most ridiculous points of view.
