What have we been up to this week?
Happy Monday! You're reading the 49th ScourgeBringer open development newsletter!
Previously on ScourgeBringer: we continued our work on enemy behaviors while working on the title screen of the game.
Last week, we did little to no visual things! Or should I say: nothing that we are allowed to show yet. 😁 Overall we've been very busy and we are likely to be super busy until the first week of March.
Here's the thing, we are preparing an announcement with the publisher, and all of this is under embargo to keep the announcement effect intact. What I can say is that Florian is working on a teaser trailer and making some awesome artwork for it. It will most likely drain most of Florian's time, so we're making little to no progress on the game itself.
On my side, I've spent most of the week working with our publisher on a very lengthy design document that will prove very useful. We're doing that for a specific occasion, and it's going to take us more time over the next couple weeks. I won't be able to disclose it though, not until ScourgeBringer is fully released, I think.
Also: we have started to work on sounds! 💥 The sound designer is now on the project and he/she is kicking in. We can't share stuff just yet, because it is also related to what is under embargo. Hopefully it will all come together in a month or so and we will all be free to show stuff again!
We finished the week with a visit from our publisher's producer directly at our office. She's also joining the team and will manage our time, schedule, and milestones so that we all have a smooth production time. All-in-all, I guess that the ScourgeBringer team grew up to 5-6 people if we count our publisher task force working on the project on and off.
This week, Florian is still full time on the teaser, while I'll be working on the design document and working on sounds with our sound designer (who I can't wait to name properly, because having to keep that under the radar makes me feel like I am somehow excluding him/her from the group).
That's all for today, see you next week!
Cheers,
Thomas
