From the Desk of the President
We had a great meet at Kenyon this weekend with Alex Nupp taking 2nd in the 800m, Olivia Evankovich taking 2nd in the 1000m, Matt Polatas taking 3rd in the 3000m, Jared Whitfield taking 3rd in the high jump, and the men's 4x400 team taking 2nd! Congrats everyone! Results from the meet are here.
The officer nomination form is live here! I sent the first wave of nomination emails on Friday; remember to respond with what nominations you want to accept or decline. Full descriptions of positions and the election process is here. If you have any questions about elections, please direct them to Evan Sergent, Ryan Heckman, Megan Falknor or myself.
Racing
Sign ups for our next meet at Illinois on 2/23 are open here. They close tomorrow at midnight! We will be staying at the Econo-lodge Champaign Urbana - University area, address: 1908 N Lincoln Ave. Urbana, IL, 61801 Friday and Saturday night. Please make sure you know when your car is leaving and coordinate if you have late classes or are planning on coming home early! If you are interested in having a Meet Buddy sign up by Tuesday at 9pm here, and you will have your buddy matchup on Wednesday!
Long Distance:
Tuesday: 1-2 x 3000m (Th) w/ 2:30 active rec. + 1-2 x 200m
Thursday: 2-4 x 600m or 800m on (3k)/400m off
Mid Distance:
Tuesday: 2 x (2x200@800 race pace/1min, 1200 5k pace/2 min, 2x200@800 race pace/1min)
Thursday: 1x600@3k race pace/3 min, 2 x 400@mile race pace/2 min, 2 x 300@mile race pace/1 min, 4 x 200 strides
Sprints:
Tuesday:
100/200: 3 x 30 seconds as far as you can go
400: 3 x 60 seconds as far as you can go
Thursday: 8 x 50m block starts, handoffs, meet prep
Social
University of Illinois will be hosting a social after the meet, so pack a change of clothes for Saturday night!
Spiritwear will be handed out Tuesday and Thursday of this week at practice! If you can not make it or need to pick up other clothing facebook message Nicole Nazar.
The Treehouse on Chitt (Nicole Nazar and Morgan Wickey’s house @ 64 Chittenden Ave) will be presenting our post-elections social event on March 1st. The event will start at 10pm and it will be a masquerade ball. Dress in your nice elections attire and we will be decorating the masks at elections. More info to come as the event gets closer.
Basic information:
- Our club meets at 4:30 PM at the Ohio Union by the D-Tix counter Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for easy runs; 5:30 PM at the RPAC for Sprinter lifts; 7:00 PM at the French Field House on Tuesdays and Thursdays for workouts; and Sundays at 9 AM at the Ohio Union for long runs. Nothing is mandatory, everything is optional!
- We have a Facebook group (linked here), which along with this newsletter and our website is how we pass along information to all of the running club's members. To join this Facebook group simply search "Ohio State Running Club", or click the link above, and make sure you select the group, not the page. Once you request to join, one of our officers with approve you shortly.
