Weaving with Natural Materials 2019

Monday, February 25, 2019 from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Join us for our 2019 term 1 Network event Weaving with Natural Materials with Nolda  Nolda is a botanical illustrator and very interested in natural history subjects. Her love of gardening inspired her to make baskets out of the things found in the garden - and other places. Nolda has been making baskets for 3 years now and has had her work exhibited with Basketry SA. In a previous life she worked as a specialist social worker with visually impaired people. As part of this she ran an arts and crafts group for blind people where she taught a range of activities. Nolda also goes to the APY lands and works with indigenous artists on painting skills and basketry. In this session Nolda plans to show people how to make a stitched coiled basket using pine needles, jacaranda, scaps of material etc. These are easy to do with children and you can even collect your own materials. She will also show some random weaving and bring a range of baskets for people to look at. Materials will be provided. If you can, bring is a darning or chenille needle (= a needle with a big eye...) but we will have spares. Free to EESSA Inc members. $10 for non members. Light snack and drinks provided
