Next Meeting -
Saturday, March 2nd at 9am
at the Home of
Ron Brozanic
2217 North 155th Street
Omaha, Nebraska 68116
Announcements
1) The next meeting will be a layout tour hosted by Ron Brozanic. He'll show us his HO scale, Fairfax and Leavenworth RR. The layout features the Missouri Pacific single track mainline between Kansas City, Kansas and Leavenworth, Kansas in 1957. Fair warning - the layout has narrow aisles and a duck under to enter the layout room.
Ron's house is white, two stories with black shutters. Parking is available in the driveway and on the west side of 155th street. No parking on the east side of the street.
2) Just a reminder - if you're looking for a road trip. The Mo Valley Freemo guys will be operating at Spring Creek Hobbies in Deshler, Nebraska on March 23rd and 24th.
Thanks, gs
Last Month
Last month was busy. Several members brought passenger cars for the show and tell, here's and example of a very old S scale kit brought by Rusty.
Later Bob Roegge demonstrated a method for quickly creating rock faces. He created this example from a couple of pieces of blue foam in less than 10 minutes.
The World's Greatest Hobby Show visited the MAC in Council Bluffs. Here are a couple of photos of from the Mo Valley Freemo Layout.
New Fun Stuff this month -
Here's an inspirational video from the Rhythm RR. This is the same fellow that built the vertical lift for his car ferry. Don't judge by the cover shot. There is a lot of creativity in the operation of this animated industry. The operational door with lighted indicators for occupancy help make use of an odd space. (about 13 min.)
Watch this one, even if you can't stand graffiti. Full size reproduction of rolling stock in an art installation give artists a legal place to create. In the same building, what is said to be the largest collection of model railroad rolling stock with graffiti applied. (about 3 min.)
And if you are more interested in the prototype, here's a video of operations at the West Colton Yard. Lot's of big power, both UP and BNSF. (about 22 min.)
Last Minute Addition - DaBob just posted his coverage of the World's Greatest Hobby show. I saw several of you in the video. The Omaha N-Trak layout starts at th 17 minute mark.
See you next time, gs
