Tuesday, February 19

The Gary Braithwaite Memorial Lecture featuring Eric Foner, 4:30-6:30pm at Katzen Museum (4400 Massachusetts Ave NW). Eric Foner is one of only two persons to serve as president of the three major professional organizations: the Organization of American Historians, American Historical Association, and Society of American Historians, and one of a handful to have won the Bancroft and Pulitzer Prizes in the same year. FREE

Wednesday, February 20

Concert | Duo Guschlbauer, 7-10pm at Embassy of Austria, Austrian Cultural Forum (3524 International Ct NW). The ACF Washington is delighted to present a concert by the young Austrian classical duo Marilies and Nikolaus Guschlbauer. Having played together since their childhood, the musical siblings managed to establish a great harmony and sensitivity in their sound together as a duo, with pieces by Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms. FREE

Thursday, February 21

Docomomo DC Victory Lundy Exhibit Happy Hour, 5:30-7:30pm at The Octagon Museum, The Architects Foundation (1799 New York Ave NW). Join Docomomo DC and the AIA’s Architects Foundation at the Octagon Museum for a free happy hour and chance to experience an exhibit featuring the work of architect and artist Victor Lundy, FAIA. The exhibit, Victor Lundy: Educating an Architect + Preservation of Modern Architecture, is an immersive gallery showcase highlighting drawings, images, and works from Lundy’s Beaux-Arts and Bauhaus education as well as his service during World War II. FREE

Friday, February 22

Satellites, Dinosaurs, Milankovitch Cycles, and Cretaceous Earth, 8-10pm at The John Wesley Powell Auditorium (Corner of Massachusetts Ave NW and Florida Ave NW). Join us as we welcome Compton Tucker, Senior Scientist from NASA Goddard's Earth Sciences Division. Tucker will review our unprecedented understanding of the Earth system made possible by satellite geophysical observations, contrast current climate with that of the Cretaceous Period, show the importance of plate tectonics to the Milankovitch Cycles, and show our trajectory is headed back to a Cretaceous-like climate. FREE

Saturday, February 23

ŠIBŘINKY • MARDI GRAS • FAŠIANGY • MASQUERADE BALL - ANNUAL FUNDRAISER, 5:30-11:30pm at Embassy Of The Czech Republic in Washington, DC (3900 Spring of Freedom Street Northwest). This social event will be an evening of fun activities, dancing and live music with Baltimore Swing Drop.
